Barbara Bird ICMG, CCE
The goal of this class is to raise our “Shampoo IQ”. The science-based knowledge related to pet shampoos has evolved beyond that of the 1990’s, but this factual data has not been made accessible to groomers.
Our information will help you be able to choose products based on what is in them, rather than just trusting the marketing info, i.e. sales pitch.
We will review the nature of shampoo surfactants and learn The Shampoo Ladder, a new way of recognizing shampoos beyond whether they are sulfates or sulfate-free.
Have you learned that shampoos and conditioners don’t mix? We will discuss the science behind conditioning shampoos, which mix these opposing types of surfactants.
Who knew? Now YOU do!
Amie Wright
Join Amie as she shares years of knowledge on everything cat grooming. Whether you already groom cats or have been thinking of starting, this class is for you. Amie will cover everything from nail trims to comb clips.
Barb Hoover NCMG CCE
Not all “dirty coats” are created equal—and not every dog needs to be shaved. ![]()
In this class, Barb Hoover breaks down:The difference between a dirty coat and a matted coat.
Why clean hair brushes and clips easier (and saves your hands + blades).
How using a high-velocity dryer can help you leave more length than you thought possible. When shaving is necessary—and when it’s not.
Bonus for your business:
Having the skills to safely leave dogs a little fluffier means happier clients, better coat finishes, and the ability to offer premium results instead of defaulting to a shave-down.
If you’ve ever asked yourself “Can or should I save this coat?” — this class is for you.

As a groomer, you're often the first to notice when something's off — a dull coat, flaky skin, or a pet that seems anxious or irritable on the table. But did you know that what's happening on the outside frequently starts on the inside? Led by a certified nutrition specialist, you'll gain a foundational understanding of how targeted nutritional supplements can support the overall health of your clients' pets — and how to have informed, confident conversations with pet owners about what you're seeing, without crossing into Veterinary advice.
